I am that girl…

I don’t sing like an angel, that’s not the gift that God gave to me
Audiences don’t stand in applause at my rendition of a voice so unique
I can’t paint with a brush, the sky I look towards in hope for a better day
Learnt men don’t analyze my work of art and add to it their expected value
But I am that girl who has a purpose that only I can deliver to the world

I am not an acrobat who twirls and entertains a crowd into laughter
People don’t pay to see me perform for them, in fact, few know of my drama
I can’t run any kind of distance that would even begin to beg competition
No trainer would be interested in my running out of breath within a meter
But I am that girl who God chose to give something to others that only I can

I am not the one who waits at the gate of others to protect them from danger
I prefer to be the one who is on the inside of things, under someone’s protection
No, I could not design the ship I hope will sail my way with more than I now know
‘Vessels’ don’t line up for me with an unexpected manual to a life of eventful kicks
But I am that girl who has survived the wind and the hail when it rained on my face

I am that girl who God considered well when he thought of my form and fashion
He gave me a mind filled with purposeful words so that I could tell of a passion
Of love and hope and his desire to intervene in all our best and gravest situations
If only we would be that girl and that boy he intended for us, since creation

I am that girl…
